Hudson Taylor ‘Drop of Smoke’

Two beautiful brothers, Harry and Alfie, make up the soothing sound that is Hudson Taylor. Hailing from Dublin in Ireland and at the ages of only 20 and 18 they’re doing well by making it to the iTunes Single of the Week, especially considering their Facebook page is only a year old. Having played the Great Escape in Brighton and Boardmasters in Newquay they seem set to be one of this years front runners in the folk/pop scene.

Here at That’s What She Heard we would liken their sound to that of Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons and Iron and Wine with a hint of Ray Lamontagne, Ed Sheeran and a touch of Sea Sick Steve. And at the same time they have a sound which is very much their own. With an extensive use of harmony that is sung with a naturalness and ease that many modern day bands and artists struggle to reach, they have a catchy country and western feel, but with much more passion and powerful tones to support this. They use unobtrusive percussion which allows their powerful and meaningful lyrics to come to the fore.
We get a real sense that they’re bringing their homes and hearts into their music and we look forward to more from these lovely boys as the years roll on.
